76th Cannes Film Festival

The camera lens captures an unseen perspective. An artform in ethereal moments, recorded eternally on film.

Film culture walks in perfect step with the Regent philosophy, staging and capturing memorable moments and unforgettable experiences. Memories of yesterday repeatedly retold and reimagined, many years after the moment has passed.

The Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel has a long-standing legacy with film, particularly the Cannes Film Festival which hosted its 1946 inaugural event from the hotel’s old casino. That year, only eight journalists were present, yet it forged an unbreakable bond between Cannes Film Festival and the hotel.

The Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel continues to stand at the forefront of film to this very day. The hotel was at the epicentre of the 76th Cannes Film Festival, hosting the Festival De Cannes Official Opening Dinner.

See some of our favourite moments in the films below.

Red carpet reimagined

The Cannes Film Festival is recognised around the world for its scarlet staircase, synonymous with style, status, and opulence. Yet long before the red carpet made its debut at Cannes Film Festival in 1987, had the Carlton Cannes paved the crimson path in luxury guest experience. Today, the red-carpet experience is reimagined for 76th Cannes Film Festival as the hotel played host to the Official Opening Dinner and The Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel’s Grand Reopening party.

The language of light

Light narrates through illumination, flooding its canvas with a spectrum of technicolour to draw the eye to what stands in its spotlight. Artistic director Lionel Hun painted the Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel with light in celebration of the hotel’s grand return at the Cannes Film Festival.
