Located beside the Huanhua Brook, Du Fu Thatched Cottage is well-known as the former residence of Du Fu, a great poet during the Tang Dynasty. In the winter of 759 BC, Du Fu fled into Sichuan to escape from the An-Shi Rebellion. During his stay in Chengdu, he build a straw-roofed house named Chengdu Thatched Cottage, where he had lived for about four years and composed more than 240 poems which are still popular today.
