Lijiang Ancient Town boasts its beautiful scenery, street and lanes paved with red breccias, crystal clear flowing water, narrow wooden stairs, shining lights on the riverside. Only totally involved in it can you feel the soft, Idle tender, simple and glamorous character of Lijiang Ancient Town. the ancient town was praised as “Venice of China “ and “Water Town on Plateau ".

Situated at the southwestern slopes of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain with an average altitude of 2500m above sea level, Lashi Lake has been entitled as a national protected wetland since 1998. The lake allows over 57 different species of migratory birds to call it home in winter months. It is an ideal place for bird watchers and nature enthusiastic as well as visitors who enjoy horse riding in the forest.

Black Dragon Pool is located at the foot of Elephant Hill ,on the northern edge of the Lijiang Old Town. Running from the Sifang Street for about 1 km along the Jade River, there is the crystal clear spring, The spring sprays out between the stones, making a pool of about 40,000 square meters with picturesque scenery around. Along with the ancient buildings punctuated among the beautiful mountains and rivers.

Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is the southernmost glacier in the Northern Hemisphere. Consisting of 13 peaks, among which Shanzidou is the highest with an altitude of 5596 meters, the mountain stretches a length of 35 kilometers and a width of 20 kilometers. Looking from Lijiang Old Town in the south which is 15 kilometers away, the snow-covered and fog enlaced mountain resembles a jade dragon lying in the clouds, hence the name.

The Mu family served as the top administration of Lijiang for 470 years, throughout the three Dynasties of Yuan, Ming, and Qing, through 22 generations, starting from 1253 AD. Of note among the many buildings are the business hall, a library, a family business hall, a garden, a reception hall, a Taoist hall, a sacrificial site, among others. The House is built in a traditional Chinese style while taking in many elements of the local Naxi culture.

This lovely atmosphere is why Joseph Rock chose this place to live when he came in 1922. He lived in Lijiang for 27 years.From 1924, a large number of his photos and articles depicting Lijiang have been published in National Geographic. His work was instrumental in introducing the wonderful scenery of West Yunnan to people in the West.

The Shu Ancient Town was once an important town on the famous ancient Tea Caravan Route. Shuhe Town boasts enchanting natural scenery, folk customs and a sense of history. Ambling along Sifang Street, you will feel as if you are floating back through time. Although it is only 33 meters long, the smooth flagstones remind you of their once flourishing past. There is a deep pool at the end of the street, called Dragon Pool.Shuhe is known as the“Land of Clear Springs” and the “Land of Leath"

The Baisha Ancient Town is one of the oldest towns in Lijiang. It is located to the north of Dayan Ancient Town, and is situated at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It is used to be the economic, culturally and political center back to Ming Dynasty and has been renowned for its Baisha Wall Painting. Nowadays, there are many ancient Naxi signature buildings and traditions still be preserved in this little town.

The well known Tiger Leaping Gorge, lies between the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Haba Snow Mountain, the gorge is 18 kilometers long with a drop of more than 200 meters, the drop in elevation between the top of the mountain and the surface of the water is more than 3700 meters, it is a great gorge that combines depth, steepness, danger and sheer wonder.
