Our hotel was originally built in 1929 as the men’s Medinah Athletic Club, during which time Olympic gold medalist and Tarzan actor, Johnny Wiessmuller, used the swimming pool to train. The building became a hotel in 1944, and opened as InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile in March 1990.

Our hotel was originally built in 1929 as the men’s Medinah Athletic Club, during which time Olympic gold medalist and Tarzan actor, Johnny Wiessmuller, used the swimming pool to train. The building became a hotel in 1944, and opened as InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile in March 1990.

This historical pool is original to the building which once was the preeminent Medinah Athletic Club. Our junior Olympic-size swimming pool, offers dedicated swimming lanes and architectural adornments including the 1920s-era Spanish Majolica tiles. Plus, weekly Dive In Movies.
