Dominican Republic Food

Dominican Republic cuisine weaves a rich tapestry of Indigenous Taíno, Spain, Africa and Middle Eastern influences.

Spice up your breakfast with mangu, a mashed plantain dish topped with fried eggs, sauteed onions and cheese. Or order sancocho, a rustic stew cooked with meats and vegetables. Braised chicken stew known as pollo guisado is popular alongside seafood and lobster dishes. For dessert, sample from dulce de leche, fruity cakes, coconuts and Majarete – a sweet and creamy pudding.

To drink, Mama Juana is a spirit made from soaking tree bark and herbs in red wine, rum, and honey. A favorite among locals and visitors, don’t miss Dominican rum, known for its smooth taste profile.
