Antique Boat Museum

The 4.5 acre campus located on the shores of the St. Lawrence River in picturesque Clayton NY is dedicated to the preservation, interpretation and display of great North American wooden watercraft as well as to the history of working, living and playing on and along the river. Tibbets Point Lighthouse

Tibbets Point Lighthouse marks the point where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence River. Built in 1827, the lighthouse features the only original working Fresnel lens on Lake Ontario. Open May 15 to Oct. 15. Hours 10am to 7pm. Gift shop on the grounds. Take advantage of the viewing platform with telescope to scan the river horizon.

The Thousand Islands Bridge is an international bridge system over the St. Lawrence River connecting northern NY with southeastern Ontario, Canada and is truly the qunitssential symbol of the 1000 Islands area. The bridge system covers a distance of 8.5 miles and provides direct connection between US Interstate 81 and Canada Highway 401..

Pirate Days

Alexandria Bay is home to the infamous pirate Bill Johnston whose daring exploits have become an annual re-enactment. Bill Johnston's Pirate Days is a 10-day, fun-filled event for all ages. The festival starts with a block dance on Friday to prepare for the Pirate Invasion on Saturday afternoon. Watch as the pirate ship attacks the village, brave villagers try to stave them off. Musket & cannons fire! Will the villagers succumb as the pirates invade the town? Aug. 11 to 20, 2023.

Burrville Cider Mill

One of the oldest establishments in Jefferson County, the cider mill was built in 1801 and was originally used as a sawmill and a gristmill. It is now owned by the Steiner family who press cider, sell apples, homemade fried cakes and gifts. Be sure to bring your camera and take some great photos by the beautiful falls. Open seasonaly from Labor Day to Thanksgiving week. Considered to be haunted!

Singer Castle

Local folklore and American history meet at Singer Castle on Dark Island located on the St. Lawrence Seaway off Shcermerhorn Landing and accessible by boat only. Transportation provided by Schermerhorn Harbor Marina in Schermerhorn Landing and by Uncle Sam Boat Tours in Alexandria Bay. Singer Castle is the only castle in the area that was actually completed and lived in. It is open to the public weekends only from mid May thru June and September thru mid October and daily in July & Aug.
