Tehachapi Loop

The Tehachapi Loop is a 0.73-mile long 'spiral', or helix, on the Union Pacific Railroad line through Tehachapi Pass, of the Tehachapi Mountains in Kern County, south-central California. Take HWY58 W towards bakersfield to Broome Rd. Turn Left onto Broome Rd. and follow up to the Tehachapi Loop.

Tehachapi Depot Railroad Museum

101 W. Tehachapi Blvd, Tehachapi, CA 93561

The museum houses several large collections of historic railroad artifacts, including antique railroad maintenance equipment and tools, dinnerware, signs and other ralroadiana, plus stories and photographs of the men and women who built the railroad and whose lives are affected by it. The museum also contains a gift shop with souveniers, books and memorabilia. Group tours are available, including school groups and all other visitors or groups interested in having a personal history lesson.

The Tehachapi Museum

The Tehachapi museum offers a variety of exhibits incliding a railroad exhibit, earthquake exhibit, and other special exhibits. The museum offers a gallery of art and artifacts recovered from the Tomo-Kahni State Historic Park of the Native American Tribe Kawaiisu. The Tehachapi Museum is a historical landmark, originally being built in 1931 in the popular art deco architecture of the era. Admission is free and donations are kindly appreciated.

The Errea House Museum

311 S. Green St, Tehachapi, CA 93561

Located directly across the street from the Tehachapi Museum is the Errea House. One of he oldest houses in the area, the house was built sometime in the 1870s. The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. About 1900, the house was moved on log rollers pulled by horses or mules to its present location. Its refurbished parlor, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms and covered porch gives visitors a view of life in rural Tehachapi from 1900s to 1930s. Admission is free.

Tomo-Kahni State Historic Park

Tomo Kahni, or Winter Home, is the historic site of a Kawaiisu village. The area was likely chosen for it's moderate temperatures and plentiful resources. Although no structures remain, the area's rich history comes alive through the clues that the inhabitants left behind. Due to the extremely sensitive nature of the site, the park may only be explored on a 3 hour guided tour. Tours meet at 8 30am at Tehachapi Museum. Call for tour dates and availability, tours fill quickly.

Triassic Legacy Wines

During the Triassic period, a large shallow seaway existed through parts of California, which accumulated 4,000 feet of marine sediments as the seaway subsided. These were deeply buried over time by later deposits and then enveloped in the intruding granite magma boiling up to become our Tehachapi Mountains. Today, the sunny southern exposed slope of the vineyard is rich with this rocky soil and rewards us with wines of exceptional character.
