Things to do

Sanssouci Palace

Maulbergallee, Potsdam, 14469

No other palace is so closely linked with the personality of Frederick the Great as Sanssouci. The location of the palace beside its well-known vineyard terraces and the originally preserved 18th century interior decoration allow visitors to delve into the world of the “philosopher of Sanssouci.” The interiors are characterized by their elegance and stylish displays of grandeur. They are also a clear expression of the king’s love of beautiful surroundings – his “Prussian Arcadia.”

Cecilienhof Palace

Im Neuen Garten 11, Potsdam, 14469

Cecilienhof Palace, built from 1913 to 1917 according to plans by Paul Schultze-Naumburg in an English country house style, is the last palace to be built by the Hohenzollern family. Kaiser Wilhelm II had the residence built for his last son, Crown Prince Wilhelm. Until 1945 it was the residence of the last German Crown Prince couple, Wilhelm and Cecilie of Prussia, who previously lived in the Marble Palace.

New Palais Palace

Am Neuen Palais, Potsdam, 14469

At the western end of the main avenue of Park Sanssouci rises a huge palace, which can be recognized from afar by its high drum dome: the New Palais.

Babelsberg Palace

Park Babelsberg 10, Potsdam, 14482

Babelsberg Castle, built in the English neo-Gothic style, sits majestically enthroned on the banks of the Havel. The Babelsberg Palace and Park were built from 1833 for Prince Wilhelm of Prussia (later Kaiser Wilhelm I) and his wife, Princess Augusta of Saxe-Weimar. Babelsberg served the later royal and imperial couple as a summer residence for more than fifty years.
