Open to the Public The Northwood Country Club is a well established nine hole course nestled between the Shellrock river and the relaxed atmosphere of country living in northern Iowa. Known to the local golfers as "The Nasty Nine", the course is enjoyed by both novice golfers and yet, has proven it's difficulty even to the lower handicap players. Although calling for tee times is preferred, they are not required.

Green Lea Golf Course is a very well established 18 hole public course located on the Northside of Albert Lea. The course first opened in 1949 had 9 holes and in June of 1965 expanded to 18 holes.

This park has something for everyone. The trails take visitors around wet lowlands, oak savanna, and grasslands. Albert Lea Lake and park marshes draw hundreds of waterfowl during migration. Oak savanna and prairie landscape, including wetlands, dominate most of the park. One of the more unique aspects of the park is the 116-acre Big Island, covered with maple/basswood forest. Another is the glacial esker located in the northeast section of the park.

The Big Island Rendezvous and Festival is a historical re-enactment event held the first weekend in October every year at Bancroft Bay Park in Albert Lea Minnesota. Experience the fur trade period arts and crafts, Native American Tipi tours, and many other Early American crafts such as woodworking, blacksmiths, and candle making just to name a few. Purchase period wares, taste authentic cuisine, and experience the sights and sounds of history.

The Marion Ross Performing Arts Center is an historic building conveniently located in downtown Albert Lea. The theater has a spacious lobby and a fully equipped lighting and sound system. It seats 255. It has a projector that can be used with DVDs, VCRs and computers for a variety of presentations. The theater is an ideal facility for business meetings and seminars. The theater has an elevator and meets all the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.

The Charles H. MacNider Museum is a non-profit, municipally owned institution conceived in 1964 and opened by 1966 in Mason City, Iowa. Everything the Museum does is educational or aesthetic in nature centering around working with objects of art. The Museum exhibits and interprets a permanent collection of American art; temporary exhibitions of art; provides art classes for all ages; offers enriching arts programs; and maintains an art library.

Fun for all ages! Come and Get lost! Visit Fort Custer Maze! Fort Custer Maze was designed by the "World's Leading Maze Consultant" - Adrienne Fisher. Fisher, based out of Portsmouth, England, has written several maze books and designed well over 200 mazes worldwide. Contsruction required over a quarter million board feet of lumber - enough to build 10 large homes!

Travelers find the Top of Iowa Welcome Center and Rest Area designed for their comfort and convenience. The rest area is open and staffed 24 hours a day.
