Deutsche Boerse (Frankfurt Stock Exchange)

In the course of the stock exchange boom, the first stock exchange bell rang at the Frankfurt am Main stock exchange in 1585. Since then, Frankfurt has developed into a powerful financial center with a large number of major banks of both domestic and foreign origin. This is why Frankfurt is also jokingly referred to as “Mainhattan”, the Manhattan on the Main. Although there are seven other stock exchanges in Germany, Frankfurt ranks first in terms of importance and turnover.

Kaiserdom (Imperial Cathedral)

Goethe House

The Goethe-House is among the most important memorial places dedicated to a German poet. It impressively documents the domestic surroundings in which the Goethe family lived. Johann Wolfgang Goethe spent his childhood and youth here and wrote his first important works here, “Götz von Berlichingen”, “The Sorrows of Young Werther” and the start to “Faust”.

City Hall Roemer

For more than 6 centuries, Frankfurt’s destiny has been directed from the patrician houses on the Römerberg. Like most of her predecessors, the municipal leader lives above the Schwanenhalle, with a beautiful view of St. Paul’s Church. In 1405, the city council purchased the buildings at the Römer from the merchant Kunz for “800 guldens of good Frankfurt currency in cash”. Over the years, nine buildings and several inner courtyards have been added to form the present-day Römer complex.

Alte Oper Frankfurt (Old Opera House)

Since it was reopened on August 28, 1981, the Alte Oper has been an integral part of Frankfurt's cultural life. The concert hall has also become a firm favourite on the international music scene. Renovated as a pure soccer stadium, it boasts a capacity of 58,000 spectators, making it the seventh largest in Germany.
