The main Capitol complex includes 16 buildings approximately 115 acres of property a 5 acre lake 3000 trees and 48 acres of cultured grass and more than 8000 flowers. Self guided tours brochures can be obtained in the Secuirty Tour Office. The Capitol is open 365 day a year from 8am till 10pm.

The Cultural Hertiage Center houses many of South Dakotas finest historical artifacts from the early Pioneers, our Native American ancestry, and much more. This museum collects preserves and interprets the social political and cultural history of the State of South Dakota and Dakota Territory.

A true marvel, the Oahe Dam is one of the world's largest earth rolled dams. Power house tours are available daily from 9am till 5pm. This is a must see. Lake Oahe, the water above the dam, is an awesome sight with water as far as the eye can see. This lake stretches into our neighboring state of North Dakota.

Mt Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mt Rushmore near Keystone, SD. Mt Rushmore features 60 foot sculputres of the heads of former US Presidents, George Washington Thomas Jefferson Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Rushmore captivates thousands of visitors every year with its magestic beauty. A museum is located at Rushmore will live film coverage, actual tools, and photos of when the monument was being built.

Ideal for fishing or playing in the water, Farm Island State Park in located on teh banks of the Missouri River. A play area for the kids and boat ramps make this the ideal summer spot.

In May 1804 Meriwether Lewis and Wm Clark set out on an expedition across LA territory. They faces unknown people, harsh conditions, and unexplored land to secure a place in history. Learn more about their expedition and experience it just minutes from the hotels front door.

The Capitol Place to shop. The Pierre Mall offers over 30 stores with a vareity of options for any shopper. The Pierre Mall is also home to Gators Pizza, Pasta, and Subs, a local favorite. Anchors stores are Kmart and JcPenney.

Beautiful park and nature walking trails located on the banks of the Missouri River. Disc golf course, amphitheatre seasonal entertainment, childrens playground equipment and picnic areas. A great adventure for those who enjoy nature and it's beauty.

This man made artesian 5 acre lake is adjacent to the State Capitol Building. The warm water lake is visited by thousands of migratory waterfowl each fall. Surrounding the lake is a peaceful walking path and several Memorials dedicated to those who have served South Dakota. Each season has a serene beauty at the lake.

The area's only horse racing track - races mid April thru early May. Rodeo Grounds May - August. Home to the Casey Tibbs Ride of Champions Rodeo Event, the State 4-H Finals Rodeo, and the Fort Pierre Fourth of July Rodeo.
