Welcome to the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, a comprehensive training complex for use by all state and local public safety related units of government within the state of Georgia.

In the early 1800s, the site was a prosperous industrial town with several stores, a grist mill, cotton gin, blacksmith shop, shoe factory and hotel. High Falls became a ghost town in the 1880s when a major railroad bypassed it. Today, park visitors can enjoy the scenic waterfall on the Towaliga River, A campground, picnic areas and canoe rental are also available. This pretty park in middle Georgia is conveniently located near I-75 and makes a restful side trip for travelers.

The Creek Indians used the springs for centuries to heal the sick and impart extra vigor to the well. During the 1800s, the area was a bustling resort town. Today, visitors can still sample the spring water while enjoying the park’s cottages, camping, swimming, fishing and boating. Many structures within the park, such as the spring house, were built during the Great Depression by members of FDR’s Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC).

Nestled in the red clay hills of Georgia, this cotton plantation was owned by a single family for more than 140 years. It survived Gen. Sherman's "March to the Sea," typhoid fever, Emancipation, Reconstruction, the cotton boll weevil, the advent of steam power and a transition from farming to forestry.

From I-75, 30 miles north of Macon, take exit 186 Juliette Road. Drive 18 miles east from the interstate to the refuge. Or from Hwy 11 between Gray and Monticello, take Juliette Road west 3 miles to the refuge office and visitor center. The diversity of habitats provides a haven for over 200 species of birds, including many species of neotropical songbirds, and 50 species of mammals.

Located in central Georgia just east of I-75, Lake Juliette is one of 15 Georgia Power-owned lakes in the state. The 3,600-acre lake has 32 miles of shoreline. In the Ocmulgee River watershed, it is formed by the Ocmulgee and Dames Ferry Dam.

The Shoppes at River Crossing is a 750,000 square foot open-air shopping, dining and entertainment destination located in Macon, Georgia at the intersection of I-75 and Riverside Drive. The 9,252-capacity Macon Coliseum is the entertainment center for Macon and Middle Georgia's 30 surrounding counties. Built in 1968 and renovated in 1996, it was the first facility of its size and type in the state and has housed full-house crowds for greats such as Elvis, The Jacksons, Billy Joel and Reba McEntire!
