Farmville, Virginia’s former Robert Russa Moton High School, now a National Historic Landmark and museum, is the student birthplace of America’s Civil Rights Revolution.

The Longwood Center for the Visual Arts, the art museum of Longwood University, is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums. Located in historic downtown Farmville, Va., it serves as a physical, intellectual,and cultural bridge between the university and community. It is the only museum of its size and scope in the 7,000sq. mile area surrounding, Prince Edward County.

Opened in 2012, The American Civil War Museum in Appomattox tells the stories of the closing days of the Civil War, and the beginning of our country's journey toward reuniting as Americans. Appomattox is deeply embedded in the consciousness of people from the many states and nations who study the Civil War and American history. Each year large numbers of visitors come to walk in the footsteps of those who took part in events which had such a profound effect on the United States.

High Bridge Trail is 31 miles long and ideally suited for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. Once a rail bed, the trail is wide, level and generally flat. Its finely crushed limestone surface and dimensions make it easy to enjoy. The park's centerpiece is the majestic High Bridge, which is more than 2,400 feet long and 125 feet above the Appomattox River. It is the longest recreational bridge in Virginia and among the longest in the United States.

Developed originally as a training ground for military pernal, they quickly began to gain popularity in the outdoor education industry and began to be used to build group and team develpment. The park holds over 60 high rope obstacles including tight rope, swinging bridges, and 17 zip lines. The whole concept is centered around the thought that one learns best by doing. In a natural setting, faced with challenges that are both physical, emotional, and mental, great change can happen.

The Barn at Timber Creek offers the choice of an indoor or outdoor ceremony, giving you greater flexibility in planning your special day. The outdoor amenities include a large covered patio overlooking our beautiful lake and a handmade wooden arbor. They offer whiskey barrels and other rustic decor to make your day picture perfect!

This wedding venue is located on a scenic 17-acre lake in Central Virginia, about 10 minutes away from Downtown Farmville and Longwood University.
