Songyang academy, an ancient institution of higher learning in China, is located under the Junji peak 3 kilometers north of Dengfeng City, Zhengzhou City, Henan Province. Founded in the eighth year of Taihe in the Northern Wei Dynasty (484), it was originally named Songyang temple, a Buddhist temple. In the second year of song Jinghu (1035), when the Taishi Academy was rebuilt, it was given the name Songyang academy, and a president was set up to take charge of the affairs of the Academy.
