Salisbury University, a member of the University System of Maryland, is a regionally accredited four-year comprehensive institution offering 56 distinct graduate and undergraduate programs. Located on the historic Eastern Shore, SU's beautiful campus is some 30 miles from the Atlantic beaches and 2.5 hours from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Your Delmarva Shorebirds are the Class "A" Minor League Baseball affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Located in Salisbury, MD, the team calls Arthur W. Perdue Stadium it's home. The team first opened it's gates in April of 1996, beginning as a Montreal Expos affiliate, a relationship that lasted just a single season as a deal was struck to make the Shorebirds an affiliate of the Orioles Organization in 1997.

The Henry S. Parker Complex is Wicomico County's premiere outdoor sports facility. Surrounded by shade and marked by expertly maintained fields, the complex has been recognized as the 2004 National Softball Association's Outstanding Park. Recently renovated, the complex boasts five softball/baseball fields (four lighted), two lighted Bermuda Turf utility fields, two full-service concession stands, plenty of spectator seating, and free parking for 720 vehicles.

The Wicomico Civic Center hosts top of the line entertainment such as concerts, trade shows, conventions, sporting events, banquets, wedding receptions & other private & public events

Since its beginning, the institution has had several name changes and governing bodies. It was Maryland State College from 1948 until 1970, when it became one of the five campuses that formed the University of Maryland. In 1988, it became a member of the then eleven campus (now thirteen) University of Maryland System, now known as the University System of Maryland . UMES is approved by the state of Maryland and fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
