UVU is a teaching institution where students learn, do and become. At UVU, the fusion of academic and hands-on learning is referred to as "engaged learning." Along with the institution's long-rooted commitment to serving the needs of the community, UVU's emphasis on engaged learning led to its classification as "community engaged" by the Carnegie Foundation. UVU's Grants for Engaged Learning Office oversees a $400,000 grant program in support of engaged learning projects.

Captivating Canyon Caves Explore an underground world that would naturally go unseen. Get a taste for the thrill of caving as you twist and bend around formations to enter decorated rooms. Learn the science behind formations and colors once thought of as mysterious. Leave some room for discovery too- not everything about caves is completely understood. The caves are open to the public May-October.

Created by Robert Redford, Sundance is a haven for discovery and inspiration that offersdiverse mountain recreation experiences year round. Sundance features night skiing on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights from 4:30 pm - 9 pm. Recreation includes skiing, snowboarding and night skiing, as well as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. In addition to 42 alpine ski runs, Sundance offers 26 kilometers of groomed cross-country trails and 10 kilometers of separate snowshoeing trails.

Created in 1996 by Alan and Karen Aston, Thanksgiving Point Gardens, the Children’s Discovery Garden, Farm Country, and the Museum of Ancient Life, and the Emporium and restaurants offer stimulating and engaging experiences in a safe, family-friendly setting. They foster learning, bring families closer together and provide beautiful gathering places for groups of all kinds, giving them opportunities to share their cultural heritage and common bonds.
