AIKEN – Registration for the Savannah River Site's 2015 public tour program will begin Monday, Dec. 29. More than 1,000 seats will be available during 22 tours to be held throughout the upcoming year at the Department of Energy site near Aiken, S.C. Driving tours are offered each year at SRS to provide members of the public an opportunity to see many of the site's facilities and learn more about the site’s history, current activities and future missions.

It is our mission to collect, present and preserve the significant achievements of the Aiken’s contribution to the thoroughbred racing industry from 1900 to the present through aesthetic and educational experiences for visitors of all ages. The Museum is housed in a 1930's Winter Colony mansion named "Banksia". Its 3.5 acre grounds are also home to a 1890's one-room schoolhouse and a log cabin built in 1808. The purpose of the Aiken County Historical Museum, under the direction of the Aiken County Historical Commission, is to collect and preserve historical material relating to Aiken County, to display and interpret such information to the public. There is no charge to visit the Museum. Hours are Tuesday - Saturday 10:00 - 5:00.

Our premier athletic facility, Citizens Park, boasts 15 lighted softball fields and 8 AstroTurf batting cages which host a variety of leagues and tournaments.

Bequeathed to the City of Aiken by Mrs. C. Oliver Iselin, this 14 acre estate was opened in 1969 as a public garden. Radiating throughout the gardens is a network of paths shaded under 100 year old live oaks. It is believed that Mrs. Iselin planted the deodar cedars and live oaks which still grace Hopelands Gardens today. The lazy curves of the paths and garden borders lead visitors throughout a wonderful variety of experiences sure to please visitors of all ages.

The Aiken Training Track, with its banked turns and soft straightaways, was considered one of the best tracks in the country upon its completion in 1941. Notable surrounding buildings include a stable, shed and grandstand. The track and supporting structures, as well as other (non-historic register) structures may be enjoyed and viewed from the quiet roads that border the large district. The Aiken County Training Track, in Aiken, South Carolina, was listed in the National Register in 1985.

The University of South Carolina Aiken is a four-year, public coeducational university in Aiken, South Carolina. The school offers undergraduate degree programs as well as master's degrees in elementary education, educational technology and applied clinical psychology. Additional graduate courses and degree programs are offered through the University of South Carolina Extended Graduate Campus program. Augusta National Golf Club, located in Augusta, Georgia, is one of the most famous golf clubs in the world. Founded by Bobby Jones and Clifford Roberts on the site of the former Fruitland (later Fruitlands) Nursery, the course was designed by Jones and Alister MacKenzie and opened for play in January 1933. Since 1934, it has played host to the annual Masters Tournament, one of the four major championships in professional golf, and the only major played each year at the same course.

Aiken Technical College is one of the 16 colleges in the South Carolina Technical College System and has been serving the community for more than 40 years. More than 3,400 students enroll in credit courses annually, and ATC’s non-credit offerings reach over 10,000 people each year. Nearly four decades after its founding, ATC has grown into a multi-service, two-year comprehensive college offering numerous educational opportunities in college transfer credits.

Building a state-of-the-art equestrian facility in Aiken was a dream Bruce Duchossois had more than a decade ago when he purchased the 66-acre lot adjacent to Powderhouse Road and Audubon Road. He formed the Aiken Horse Park Foundation in June 2013 and donated the horse park to the foundation later that year.
