The Montgomery Zoo is open year round with the exception of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Years Day. The zoo opens at 9:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm. The last ticket is sold at 4:30 and the major animal exhibits begin going in to their enclosures for the night. The zoo opens at 5:30 pm for Christmas Light Festival.

The Alabama State Capitol, listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the First Confederate Capitol, is the state capitol building for Alabama. It is located on Capitol Hill, originally Goat Hill, in Montgomery. It was declared a National Historic Landmark on December 19, 1960. Tour through the historical State Capitol building. The Civil Rights Memorial is a memorial in Montgomery, Alabama, to 41 people who died in the struggle for the equal and integrated treatment of all people, regardless of race, during the 1954-1968 civil rights movement in the United States. The memorial is sponsored by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

First Whitehouse of the Confederacy historical tour. This house served as Jefferson Davis' home while Montgomery served as the Capitol of the Confederate States of America. The Confederate White House contains period furnishings and many of Davis' personal belongings.

The Rosa Parks Museum is located at Troy University. The museum is located on the site of the old Empire Theatre where Mrs. Parks began her courageous and historic stand in l 955. The museum features a recreated street scene and replica of the bus, while video footage transports visitors to the fateful day. Additional exhibits lead visitors on an emotional journey through the days of the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which became the first step on the often difficult path to Civil Rights in America.

Located on the site of a former warehouse where black people were enslaved in Montgomery, Alabama, this narrative museum uses interactive media, sculpture, videography & exhibits to immerse visitors in the sights and sounds of the domestic slave trade, racial terrorism, the Jim Crow South, and the world’s largest prison system. Compelling visuals and data-rich exhibits provide a one-of-a-kind opportunity to investigate America's history of racial injustice and its legacy.

More than 4400 African American men, women, and children were hanged, burned alive, shot, drowned, and beaten to death by white mobs between 1877 and 1950. Millions more fled the South as refugees from racial terrorism, profoundly impacting the entire nation. Until now, there has been no national memorial acknowledging the victims of racial terror lynchings. On a six-acre site atop a rise overlooking Montgomery, the national lynching memorial is a sacred space for truth-telling and reflection.
