Caddo Lake is one of only two natural lakes in Texas. Caddo Lake is a 35,000-acre maze of sloughs, bogs, bayous, and "boat roads", and is best known for its exotic flora, fauna, and excellent fishing. The Caddo Lake National Wildlife Refuge was formed in 2009 and has more than 7,000 acres of forest lands that shelter magnificent old-growth, hardwood, bottomland forest, and is a home to over 216 resident bird species.
