Peterborough Lift Lock

In July 1904 a national historic site was opened here in Peterborough Ontario. It is a national historic site because it is the highest hydraulic lift lock in the world that is designed to lift boats 19.8 meters. The lift Lock continues to function as part of the Trent–Severn Waterway National Historic Site of Canada under the management of Parks Canada. Located beside the Holiday Inn Peterborough Waterfront is the office for the Lift Lock Boat Cruises, you can stay with us and set sail.

Canadian Canoe Museum
