Pilies Street is the Old Town's main artery and the hub of cafe and street market life. The main street of Vilnius, Gediminas Avenue, is partially located in the Old Town. The central squares in the Old Town are the Cathedral Square and the Town Hall Square. One of the most elaborate architectural complexes is the Vilnius University Architectural Ensemble, which occupies a large part of the Old Town and has 13 courtyards.
Lithuanian National Museum

Today the museum has more than a million exhibits. It holds annual sessions of fieldwork for researchers of ethnic culture and historians, and organises archaeological excavations. More than a half of all exhibits restored in Lithuanian museums are being conserved and restored at the Museum’s Restoration Centre. The Museum also has a specialised library, archive and photo laboratory.
Gediminas castle

The Vilnius Castle Museum was opened in 1960, and in 1968 it became a subdivision of the Lithuanian National Museum. The exposition of the Vilnius Castle Museum displays reconstruction models of Vilnius castles of the second part of the 14th and the beginning of the 17th centuries, armament, iconographic material of old Vilnius. An observation deck on the top of the tower is the best place from which to appreciate a magnificent panorama of Vilnius.
