The city's Las Americas International Speed Racing Course where competitions are held several times a year attracting regional racers. In 2005, the Miller Grand-AM Cup circuit race was held there. A perfect view of the Caribbean can be seen while watching the thoroughbreds speed around the one mile course.

National Theatre

This pair of auditoriums, built in 1973, features the Sala Principal, the larger of the two, which has a capacity of 1,600 persons, and the smaller auditorium, Sala Ravelo, which holds up to 175 persons. Sala Ravelo is mainly used for conferences and small speeches, but the larger auditorium features Santo Domingo's top dance, music, and dramatic performers.

Tip: Many international and national singers join this important event such as Jennifer Lopez, Shakira, Ricky Martin, Juan Luis Guerra, among others. Last concert was on July 2010. The idea of the Festival came about in 1995, when Dominican National Brewery chose to make an event to reward the loyalty of the Dominican people toward Cerveza Presidente beer. The Festival is celebrated each two years for three days in the month of October.

Getting around

Most tour groups will be bussed into the city in large chartered busses. If you are traveling individually, you will need to take a taxi from the airport to the city. National Aquarium

Its star attractions are a clear plexiglass sea tunnel and the orphaned manatee Tamaury. The National Aquarium is a monument to life underwater. Opened in 1990 by President Joaquin Balaguer. The National Aquarium is located at Spain Avenue, east of Santo Domingo.
