We have made an IHG commitment to:

Double the representation of ethnically diverse colleagues in Americas-based corporate leadership roles over the next three years

Paid day of leave for US corporate colleagues to vote in national elections; additional floating paid holiday to observe cultural and religious events or for other personal use

Support education, employability, and empowerment in the community through partnerships with the National Urban League and National Center for Civil and Human Rights

Offer IHG Rewards members the opportunity to donate loyalty points to support US partners that promote racial justice and equity

To continue building on our culture of Diversity & Inclusion, we’ve partnered with several organizations to advance equality for all, both in our backyard in Atlanta and the local communities in which we operate around the U.S.

National Urban League

We’re supporting the expansion of the National Urban League’s Urban Apprenticeship Jobs Program (UAJP), which creates pathways to careers for underemployed and underutilized communities through social support services and apprenticeship programs. IHG’s contributions will support the expansion of UAJP in Atlanta and Chicago.

Following the re-opening of the Atlanta-based National Center for Civil and Human Rights, we’re sponsoring several free admission days for the general public, IHG colleagues and their families to witness the Center’s powerful exhibits at no cost.

IHG’s sponsorship will also help cover costs associated with the museum’s safe reopening to staff and visitors, including PPE, temperature scanners and automated admission kiosks.

IHG and Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) are partnering to launch the LOVE, “Lifting Our Voices for Equity,” Project to encourage conversations around diversity, equity, and inclusion nationwide. The LOVE Project will award JAG students with micro-grants, funded by IHG, to explore social justice issues, identify challenges in their communities and work to enact change through civic awareness and engagement.

“Jobs for America's Graduates was founded 40 years ago to address the inequalities too many of America’s youth experience, which limits opportunities and prevents them from reaching their full potential. In the last four decades, JAG has helped over 1.4 million vulnerable youth overcome significant economic, emotional, social, and academic challenges. Throughout this time, JAG participants have proven that a well-executed model can help those historically held back by discrimination, poverty, and other barriers so they can achieve equal or greater success in high school graduation, employment, and post-secondary education. We are honored to work with IHG on such an important initiative to generate conversations around diversity, equity and inclusion, and to help inspire JAG students to drive positive change in their communities.”

What you can do

Whether it’s through the power of the ballot, or the strength of protest, we can all answer the call to action.

Exercise your civic duty

One of the most powerful things you can do is to show up at the polls and cast your votes. Research the races and issues in your local elections and make informed decisions about who your leaders should be.

You have a right to protest peacefully

History has shown that public protests are critical to the success of movements like civil rights, women’s equality, and LBGTQ+ rights. If you can’t get to the streets, make a stand online by signing a petition and adding your name to the list of those who will not stand for racial injustice.

Volunteer your time

Helping to drive education and employment opportunities for marginalized communities is a powerful way to help drive change. Find an organization where you can sign up to be a mentor, help a refugee with a job search, or volunteer at an after-school program.
