Celtic Connections

Glasgow Royal Concert Hall 


Celtic Connections is considered one of the most influential music festivals in the country. The festival runs for three weeks from the middle of January to the beginning of February and brings in a variety of musical artists from around the world and from numerous genres. While most activities take place at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, other performances and workshops happen in venues around the city, including The National Piping Centre, the City Halls and Old Fruitmarket concert hall and Tron Theatre.

Another popular music festival in the city worth checking out is the Glasgow Music Festival. This festival was first held in 1911. The Glasgow International Jazz Festival occurs over five days in June and brings some of the biggest and best names in jazz to the city. Most of the events happen in the Merchant City part of Glasgow, including the open-air stage in George Square and concerts at the City Halls and Old Fruitmarket.
