Mitte, the Heart of the City
Located in the center of the city, Mitte is one of Berlin's first boroughs. Naturally, it's filled with historic sites and arts and culture hubs. This neighborhood has a cosmopolitan feel with plenty of upscale shopping options and restaurants. The arts scene is exploding here, particularly in the contemporary art center of Auguststraße. It's also the starting point for many walking tours and boat excursions on the River Spree.

Wander the Streets of Bergmannkiez
Stop for a cup of coffee or tea in this lovely and leafy neighborhood. It features cafes, cobblestone streets and Marheineke Markthalle, a massive and historic market square where you can find food, produce, gifts, books and more. The borough's main streets converge at the stunning 19th-century Südstern church.

Party All Night in Simon-Dach-Kiez
This artsy area is shifting from edgy to trendy. Boutiques, cafes, theaters, excellent restaurants and studios are moving in next to the skate parks and nightclubs. Head to Simon-Dach-Kiez to check out the breweries and markets and stay for a night out.

Stay Sophisticated Prenzlauer Berg
Prenzlauer Berg is one of Berlin's most popular (and richest) neighborhoods. Its restored buildings and picturesque streets make it a desirable place to live. This is a great borough for walking and biking, browsing boutiques, sipping coffee at a cafe or grabbing a meal at a trendy restaurant. If you're looking for designer fashion, head to Oderberger Straße and Boulevard Kastanienallee.

Experience Culinary Delights in Neukolln
This hip and diverse neighborhood is home to many transplants and expatriates. For this reason, it's the place to go for any type of food you can imagine — from Vietnamese to authentic Italian. It also has a great bar scene and many opportunities to enjoy the arts.

Take the Little Ones to Lichtenberg
This family-friendly neighborhood with an industrial vibe sits on the Rummelsburger Bucht bay. It's home to Europe's largest zoo, plus theaters and historic sites. Along the Spree River and Obersee and Orankesee lakes, you can find parks, beaches and gardens at which to relax. Another fun Lichtenberg attraction is its 19th-century Karlshorst Harness Racing Track, where you can catch harness races year-round.

Go Back in Time in Spandau
Spandau is a picturesque region full of natural beauty and outdoorsy activities. Head here to hike and bike along or swim, kayak or canoe in River Havel and the surrounding lakes. The district still has many remnants of its medieval fortress past. Check out the shops and cafes in romantic Old Town, stroll the cobblestone streets of Kolk corner or relax at the Kulturpark Cafe beer garden on Wannsee Lake.

Get a Taste of Many Cultures in Wrangelkiez
Wrangelkiez is arguably one of Berlin's most beautiful neighborhoods. This small part of town has only about 12 streets — many of which are cobblestone — and cozy cafes, shops and bars. Historic architecture contrasts with colorful street art and famous murals. The area is popular with a younger, multicultural population. You'll find great nightclubs and music venues here, as well.
