The Rocky Mount Sports Complex, was completed in the fall of 2006, includes six youth baseball fields, four interchangeable baseball/softball fields, one championship baseball field, four soccer/football fields, a professional disc golf course, two outdoor basketball courts, outdoor volleyball courts, picnic shelters and a walking trail. The complex hosts local Parks and Recreation leagues, as well as, a full slate of regional, state and national sporting events.

The Imperial Centre for the Arts & Sciences, located in downtown Rocky Mount, is one of the premier cultural facilities on the eastern seaboard. Occupying the combined former sites of the Imperial Tobacco company and old Braswell Memorial Library in downtown Rocky Mount, the complex houses an Arts Center, Children's Museum & Science Center, and community performing arts theatre.

This beautiful natural 56.5 acre park on Falls Road and Tar River. Rocky Mount's first post office, theatre and the "rocky Mounds" where Rocky Mount got its name are located in the confines of the park. The park has a greenway, a boat landing, 3 picnic shelters, and overlook, playground equipment, 4 parking lots, 2 islands, and a gazebo. The Gazebo can be reserved for wedding.

The Dunn Center for the Performing Arts is on the campus of North Carolina Wesleyan College. The facility includes the 1,200 seat Minges Auditorium, the intimate Powers Recital Hall, and several galleries including the Mims Gallery. the Dunn Center features a variety of campus and community events, including Campus Activity Board concerts, Wesleyan Theatre department productions, and concerts of the Tar River Orchestra and Chorus.

North Carolina Wesleyan College, a private institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church, prepares students for professional advancement, life-long learning, and responsible participation in their communities.

Nash Community College is a unit of the North Carolina Community College System. The college has an open door admission policy with a mission to provide an affordable educational environment which prepares students for college transfer and rewarding careers.

UNC Nash Health Care is a hospital authority comprised of four distinct hospitals: Nash General Hospital, Nash Day Hospital, Coastal Plain Hospital and the Bryant T. Aldridge Rehabilitation Center. It serves Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax, Wilson and Johnston counties, but draws patients from beyond these areas as well.
